Leicester Tigers centre Will Wand has been named Gallagher Player of the Month for May after receiving 34.4% of the public vote, finishing ahead of teammate Ollie Chessum and two other PREM contenders.
Will Wand Wins Gallagher Player Of The Month Award
Wand claimed the May award after another impressive run of performances for Leicester Tigers. The 24-year-old finished ahead of Chessum, who received 27.6% of the vote, along with Exeter Chiefs prop Josh Iosefa-Scott and Saracens centre Olly Hartley.
The award marks the second time this season that Wand has been named Gallagher Player of the Month, having also won the honour in March during his breakthrough campaign with the Tigers.
Leicester Tigers Centre Continues Breakthrough Season
Wand’s May performances underlined his growing importance to Leicester’s squad. He produced a Gallagher Player of the Match display in the Tigers’ 47-33 away win over Sale Sharks in Round 16, helping the club strengthen its position in the top four.
Since making his senior club debut in Round 3 of the 2024-25 Gallagher Premiership season, Wand has become one of Leicester’s standout performers. He has scored 13 tries in 27 appearances so far this season.
Leicester Tigers Attack Gains Momentum
Wand’s contribution has also been visible in Leicester’s attacking form. The Tigers scored 88 points and 13 tries across back-to-back victories over Northampton Saints and Sale Sharks in Rounds 15 and 16.
Gallagher’s CEO Nick Harris praised Wand’s impact, calling his second monthly award a major achievement and noting that no other player has matched the feat this season.
“Having made his senior club debut in Round 3 of the 24/25 Gallagher PREM campaign, Will has gone on to make a significant impact this season, scoring 13 tries in 27 appearances so far.
"Securing a second Gallagher Player of the Month award this season is a fantastic achievement, and one no other player has matched in this campaign. We wish him all the best for the remaining fixtures.”
