Waratahs ended Rebels' unbeaten run in the ongoing Super Rugby season as they registered a 51-27 victory at Allianz Stadium on Sunday.

Rebels though had the upper hand in the first half as they maintained a 10-20 lead following tries from Tom English (4'), Amanaki Mafi (26') and Jack Maddocks (36') while Reece Hodge kicked a penalty and a conversion.

Waratahs, who had their first points with a 15th-minute penalty from Bernard Foley managed to get some respite at the stroke of half time with Lalakai Foketi crossing over in the 38th minute.

However, Waratahs showed total dominance in the second half with Rob Simmons (42'), Mitch Short (48'), Bryce Hegarty (54'), Taqele Naiyaravoro (57' and 78') scoring tries while Foley also had a productive second half with five conversions and two penalties.

Matt Philip's try in the 62nd minute following a conversion from Hodge from Rebels were the only response from the visitors in the second half as they succumbed to a 24 point defeat. Waratahs are third in Australian Conference which is topped by Rebels.
