Wallabies prop Allan Alaalatoa is set to miss the upcoming Rugby World Cup campaign following an Achilles injury.

The 29-year-old sustained the blow during the Bledisloe Cup game against New Zealand in Melbourne which his side went on to lose 7-38.

The result also saw New Zealand claim the Bledisloe Cup for the 21st consecutive year while also claiming the Rugby Championship but the Wallabies finished at the bottom after losing all their three matches since Eddie Jones took over as head coach from Dave Rennie.

"He's got a fairly serious injury I would suggest, Achilles," said Jones after the game.

Meanwhile, Jones also added that no deadline has been set for the return of co-captain Michael Hooper, who is down with a calf injury and is doubtful for the showpiece event in France.

"He's a long way away, mate," added Jones.

"I'm saying that he's got a serious injury.

"And when you've got a serious injury there are deadlines and we need to find out the deadline on it.

"When you've got a calf injury sometimes you don't know how quickly it can recover. [Matildas star] Sam Kerr's back playing... on Monday. How fit she is, I don't know."
