Wales have been dealt a major setback ahead of Saturday’s Nations Series Test against New Zealand, with experienced back-row forward Aaron Wainwright ruled out.

The 28-year-old, capped 61 times, has withdrawn from the matchday squad due to a hip injury, forcing a reshuffle in the pack.

Taine Plumtree replaces Wainwright at number eight, while uncapped Morgan Morse has been called into the squad as a replacement.

"We've been managing Aaron's training load this week," coach Steve Tandy said.

"Following assessment again today we have taken the decision to remove him from playing on Saturday."

Wales have not beaten the All Blacks since 1953 and have lost their last 33 meetings.

Wales: Murray; Rees-Zammit, Llewellyn, Hawkins, Rogers; Edwards, T Williams; Carre, Lake (capt), Assiratti, D Jenkins, Beard, Mann, Deaves, Plumtree.

Reserves: Coghlan, G Thomas, Griffin, F Thomas, Morse, Hardy, J Evans, Tompkins.
