Ospreys have confirmed the signing of Wales international Tomas Francis from Gallagher Premiership club Exeter Chiefs ahead of the 2021/22 season.

The 28-year-old has penned a three-year contract with the Welsh regional side and becomes the latest high profile signing of Ospreys for the next season.

Francis started his career with Doncaster Knights in 2012 and also played for London Scottish before switching to Exeter Chiefs in 2014 and has racked up 88 appearances in the Premiership for the club. He also enjoyed two Premiership titles victory and European Champions Cup triumph with the Sandy Park based outfit.

The 6ft 1in prop has made 52 Test appearances for Wales since his international Test debut in 2015 and will be short of the 60-Test mark (which will be limit for players plying trade overseas to be considered for national selection) when his current contract with Exeter ends.

“I spoke to the Welsh regions but I was impressed with the vision of Head Coach, Toby Booth, and where he wanted to take the Ospreys. His attention to detail and knowledge of my game and what he and Duncan Jones laid out to me was really appealing," he told the official website of the club.

“Signing for the Ospreys will allow me to continue to play for Wales, something I was not willing to give up, but to do that I know I have to perform and earn my place with the Ospreys. Performing for the Ospreys will give me the opportunity to be selected for international rugby.

“I’m still ambitious and keen to keep improving and I see Ospreys as the perfect place to do that.”
