Dragons have confirmed that Wales back-row Dan Baker has agreed to new contract with the Pro14 club.

Baker joined the club in February after initially signing a deal until the end of the ongoing 2021/22 season and has made six appearances for the club since then.

The 28-year-old started his career with Ospreys making 94 appearances for them and also had a brief stint with French Pro D2 side Stade Montois before joining Dragons.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at the region and getting to work closely with Dean (Ryan) and the rest of the coaching team,” he told the club's official website.

“There is fierce competition for places in the back row here and it’s been really good for me to be really challenged and pushed in a fresh environment.

“Dragons have big ambitions for the future and it’s exciting to know I will now be a part of that.”

The 6ft 2in back-row also has made three Test appearances for Wales between 2013 and 2015.

Dragons director of rugby Dean Ryan said he was impressed by Baker since his arrival at the club.

“We’ve been really pleased with Dan’s impact and the impression he has made with us.

“He brings a different dimension to our back row resources and offers us a different style to our game.

“Dan has been a really good acquisition and we look forward to him continuing to make his mark with us.”
