Racing 92 centre Virimi Vakatawa has been withdrawn from France squad for the upcoming Six Nations tournament following a knee injury.

Vakatawa sustained the blow while playing for his club Racing 92 in the recently concluded Top 14 game against Bordeaux Begles where he left the field in the 11th minute.

The 28-year-old will undergo a scan to assess the extent of the damage with France set to kick-start the tournament with a clash against Italy on 6th February at Stadio Olimpico.

Vakatawa has played 27 Tests for France since his international debut in 2016 and featured in three games during the World Cup last year.

Meanwhile, head coach Fabien Galthié has added Lyon's Pierre-Louis Barassi in the squad as a replacement for Vakatawa.

The squad is set to assemble in Nice on Monday for a training camp.
