Ulster utility back Will Addison has been handed a four-week ban after he was cited for a dangerous tackle in the recently concluded Champions Cup game against Clermont Auvergne at Kingspan Stadium last weekend.

The 27-year-old had a head collision with Paul Jedrasiak in the half-hour mark forcing the Clermont lock off the field. Addison was cleared off any dangerous play during that time after referee JP Doyle consulted with the TMO but the citing commissioner felt otherwise.

The Ireland international appeared before an independent disciplinary committee in London on Wednesday and was proved guilty of the charges.

Addison was originally handed a six-week ban that was reduced by two weeks taking into consideration guilty plea and other mitigating factors.

As a result, Addison will now miss Pro 14 matches against Scarlets and Leinster followed by Champions Cup double header against Harlequins. He will be free to resume playing from 23rd December.
