Saracens full-back Tom Parton is set to leave the club to take on a new challenge in Japan.
The 25-year-old, who joined Saracens ahead of the 2023/24 season, departs after a short but impactful stint with the North London club.
Parton, a former England U20 star, made his debut for Saracens earlier this season and quickly became a valuable squad member. Known for his agility, vision, and ability to counterattack from deep, the full-back played a key role in several matches.
Despite his relatively short time at the club, Parton’s departure leaves a noticeable gap in the squad.
Reflecting on his time at Saracens, Parton expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent one of the most successful clubs in English rugby.
"I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Saracens. The environment here is second to none, and I feel privileged to have been part of this group,” he said.
Parton’s move to Japan is part of an increasing trend of European players exploring opportunities in the burgeoning rugby leagues of Asia. The Japanese league has attracted a host of international stars in recent years, offering competitive rugby and unique cultural experiences.
Director of Rugby Mark McCall praised Parton’s professionalism and contributions to the squad, stating:
"Tom has been a fantastic addition to the team, and while we are sad to see him go, we wish him all the best in this exciting new chapter of his career."
