Wallabies winger and former rugby league star Suliasi Vunivalu has announced his move to French Top 14 club La Rochelle.

The 27-year-old, who was part of Eddie Jones' 2023 World Cup squad, departs Australian rugby with seven Test appearances under his belt.

Vunivalu, who transitioned from rugby league to union, expressed his enthusiasm for this next step in his career:

“I’ve really enjoyed coming over to rugby from rugby league. This is a good opportunity because travelling with rugby has been one of my goals from the start. It’s the right time.”

Vunivalu joins La Rochelle, one of Europe's top clubs, at a pivotal time in his career. Known for his explosive speed and agility, the winger will bring his versatile skill set to a team that continues to dominate in French rugby.

While his stint with the Wallabies included bench appearances during the 2023 Rugby World Cup, his move to France signals a fresh start and an opportunity to excel on the European stage.

His journey from rugby league to union has been marked by significant milestones. He initially made a name for himself in the NRL with the Melbourne Storm before making the switch to rugby union in 2021. His performances caught the attention of national selectors, earning him a spot in the Wallabies squad.
