Edinburgh are set to appoint Steve Diamond as their head coach with immediate effect until the end of season.

The decision follows after Mike Blair opted not to extend his contract with the club beyond the ongoing season. However, he is expected to be part of the coaching set up under Diamond until the summer.

Diamond spent most of his coaching career with Sale Sharks after being part of them between 2012 and 2020 and recently was without a club after Worcester entered into administration in 2022.

He was heading a consortium that planned to take over Worcester rival bidders Atlas was appointed the new owners by the club's administrators.

Diamond also has coached Russia, Saracens and England Saxons in the past. He is set to be in charge of Edinburgh ahead of their clash against Connacht on 25th March.

Edinburgh currently are at 12th position in the United Rugby Championship table with five wins from 15 matches.
