Newcastle Falcons have confirmed the signing of Spanish international lock Josh Peters on a two-year contract ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Peters started his professional rugby career with Northampton Saints and had loan stints with Cambridge and Coventry. He also represented Blackheath and Stade Dijonnais before joining Championship side Doncaster Knights making 18 appearances for them this season.

The 26-year-old also featured 10 times for Spain since his debut in 2018.

“It’s a great opportunity to go up a level and challenge myself in a Premiership environment,” he told the club's official website.

“It’s exciting to be making the move, and through hard work and learning I’ll look to push for a place.

“Outside of the rugby Newcastle is a great city which I’ve visited a number of times, including playing up there in pre-season last summer, and hopefully good things will come from the move.

“I’m already good mates with Newcastle’s prop Conrad Cade from his time on loan at Doncaster, and I was also in Northampton Saints’ academy with George Wacokecoke, who is a really good lad.”

Newcastle Falcons are at 11th place in the table with six wins from 22 games.
