South Africa have been dealt another injury blow ahead of their Rugby Championship opening game against Australia in Johannesburg with Aphiwe Dyantyi sidelined.

The 24-year-old will now return back to his club Golden Lions for rehabilitation after suffering a hamstring injury during training camp in Johanessburg.

He will meet a specialist this week to assess the extent of damage and a probable timeframe for his return.

Dyantyi has played 13 Tests - all of it coming during 2018 - and his consistent performances have earned him World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year Award after managing to score six tries.

South Africa director of rugby Rassie Erasmus has not called for any replacement.

Following the game against Australia, South Africa will also face New Zealand and Argentina in the remaining two rounds of the tournament on 27th July and 10th August respectively.
