South Africa international Kwagga Smith will make a move to Japan after signing a short-term deal with Japanese club Yamaha Jubilo.

Smith made his professional rugby debut in 2013 for South Africa provincial side Pumas and joined Golden Lions in 2014. His debut in Super Rugby came in 2015 and has racked up over 150 appearances for the South Africa Sevens side amassing over 300 points.

His debut for South Africa came in June this year during the Test against Wales in Washington DC.

“I am honoured to be joining the Yamaha family as the next step of my rugby career and am convinced that playing for a team like Yamaha will help me to grow as a player,” he said.

“I have visited Japan, it is a very beautiful country and I am very impressed with the culture. My wife is looking forward to living in Japan.

“I will try my best to make a big contribution to the team and to win the Top League.”
