Sale Sharks have confirmed that South Africa international Jean Luc Du Preez will join the Gallagher Premiership club on a three-month loan contract.

The 23-year-old will link up with his brother Robert du Preez, who is also on a loan stint with the AJ Bell Stadium outfit and will be available for selection ahead of the round eight clash of the Gallagher Premiership against Northampton Saints on 24th November.

The decision to sign Jean Luc comes after flanker Tom Curry is sidelined with an ankle injury that he sustained during England's opening game of the autumn international series against South Africa.

“Jean-Luc will arrive on Friday and will join the squad in London before the Saracens fixture," said Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond.

"He is part of the formidable Sharks back row in South Africa and can play in all back three positions.

"He is 6ft 4” and 18 stone so a powerful athletic lad, and he will fit in well with the culture here at Sale and add to the winning mentality we a creating as we gain momentum this year.”

Jean-Luc made his professional rugby debut with Sharks in 2015 and recently was part of the squad that went on to win the Currie Cup. He has also played for South Africa in 13 Tests since his debut in 2016.

Sale Sharks are currently positioned 11th in the Gallagher Premiership table with two wins from six games.
