South Africa have solidified its position at the top of the World Rugby Rankings, extending its lead to two points following a 29-20 victory over England on Saturday.

The Springboks now hold a rating of 92.78 points. Ireland moved up to second place with 90.78 points after narrowly defeating Argentina 22-19. New Zealand, previously ranked second, dropped to third with 90.09 points after a close 30-29 loss to France.

France remains in fourth place but is now just two points shy of breaking into the top three, following their win over the All Blacks in Paris.

Georgia came close to breaking into the top 10 for the first time, leading Italy 17-6 at halftime in Genoa. However, Italy staged a comeback to win 20-17, leaving Georgia 0.16 points behind 10th-placed Wales, who suffered a 52-20 defeat to Australia.

The USA gained one place to 15th with a 36-17 win over Tonga, replacing Portugal, who lost to Scotland. Japan also climbed to 13th after a 36-20 victory against Uruguay.

The Netherlands achieved the most significant leap, rising three places to 24th after defeating Rugby World Cup debutants Chile 20-17. Under Lyn Jones' leadership, the Dutch continue to show promise as they aim to qualify for the 2027 Rugby World Cup.

The rankings reflect a dynamic week of international rugby, highlighting South Africa’s dominance, Ireland’s steady rise, and the growing competitiveness of emerging teams like Georgia and the Netherlands.
