The 2025 Six Nations Player of the Championship shortlist has been revealed, with four outstanding backs making the final cut: France's Louis Bielle-Biarrey, England's Tommy Freeman, Italy's Tommaso Menoncello, and Scotland's Blair Kinghorn.

Notably, this year's nominations do not include any forwards, highlighting the dominance of backline players in the tournament.

Nominees for Player of the Championship

The selection process combined fan votes with performance statistics from the 2025 Team of the Championship, resulting in four players emerging as the standout performers of this year’s tournament.

Louis Bielle-Biarrey

French winger Louis Bielle-Biarrey had an exceptional Six Nations campaign, finishing as the tournament’s top try-scorer with eight tries—the highest tally by any player in Six Nations history, surpassing the previous record of seven set in 2018. In addition to his scoring exploits, he also contributed four assists, cementing his status as one of the most impactful attacking players.

Tommy Freeman

England’s Tommy Freeman was another standout, becoming one of the few players to score a try in each of his team’s five matches. Initially playing on the wing, Freeman later showcased his versatility by shifting to the centre position during England’s commanding victory over Wales on Super Saturday. His adaptability and consistency made him a key player throughout the tournament.

Tommaso Menoncello

Reigning Player of the Championship Tommaso Menoncello continued to impress, demonstrating his ability on both sides of the ball. The Italian centre scored twice in the tournament while also making 59 tackles and recording three breakdown steals—the highest tally among backs. His all-around game was vital in Italy’s strong performances this year.

Blair Kinghorn

Scotland’s Blair Kinghorn had a sensational tournament, leading multiple statistical categories. He carried the ball 86 times for a total of 857.9 metres and registered 13 offloads. Additionally, he gained 574.6 metres, breaking the previous Six Nations record for most metres gained in a single edition. His dynamic performances were crucial to Scotland’s attacking play.
