Singapore Next Stop for #StayStrongForOws Fundraising

#StayStrongForOws - Singapore Week
#StayStrongForOws - Singapore Week
Singapore will host the next stage of the #StayStrongForOws fundraising and awareness campaign that will see the former Cardiff and Wales U20 star return to the city where his life changed forever.
On behalf of Owen Williams and in association with several generous sponsors, a week of fundraising activities in Singapore from February 23-27 that include a corporate touch rugby tournament, a rugby coaching clinic, a golf day and a charitable evening ball has been organised.
Also supporting the week’s activities are former Cardiff and Wales lock Craig Quinnell, as well as other international rugby stars.
The aim of the weeks’ events is to raise much-needed funds to assist in the continued rehabilitation of Owen, or Ows to his closest friends, who was severely injured on the evening of Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the Singapore National Sports Stadium. He was playing for Cardiff Blues at the World Club 10s in a 3rd/4th play-off fixture with Asia Pacific Dragons when he suffered a major spinal injury.
Since that moment Owen’s story, his resilience, attitude and determination to meet every challenge head-on has been an inspiration to the rugby community. His refusal to dwell on what might have been, refusal to feel sorry for himself, refusal to look back is truly incredible for a man still so young.
Talking recently about his journey since the accident Owen declared, “At first I couldn't see light at the end of the tunnel, but with the support from everyone I have picked myself up and got on with it. Life is different, but I'm ready for its challenges!”

Indeed, Owen has made some remarkable strides in his recovery, but there is a long way to go. The Singapore week will greatly assist in raising funds for his continued rehabilitation and to plan and support Owen in the long-term.
With five weeks until the event, sponsorship and fundraising has progressed well, but there are still opportunities for those who would like to assist in the #StayStrongForOws Singapore Week. For further information please contact
