Sharks progressed to the play-off of the Super Rugby after edging out Sharks with a 20-10 victory in the final round at Kings Park Stadium on Saturday.

The win has taken Sharks to 36 points - same as Rebels but with better point difference they edged out the Australian side in the race for top eight with Jaguares also progressing to the next round with 38 points.

Robert du Preez kicked back to back penalties in the first 15 minutes to take Jaguares to six points but their momentum was dented when Dan du Preez was sin-binned for a no-arm tackle in the 19th minute.

Despite, being one man down, Sharks stretched their lead to 13-3 when Akker van der Merwe touched down in the 22nd minute and Robert du Preez kicked the extras and that remained the scoreline as the teams headed into the break.

Sharks carry forwarded their momentum into the second half when Jacobus Van Wyk dotted down in the 53rd minute that was improved by du Preez as they stretched the lead to 20-3 and despite a consolation try from Sebastian Cancelliere for Jaguares, they went on to lose the game by 10 points.
