Jaguares recorded their sixth straight win as they defeated Sharks 29-13 in their Super Rugby clash at Estadio Jose Amalfitani on Friday.

Jaguares now have consolidated their second position in South African Conference as they take their tally to 34 points while Sharks are at third in the same group.

Nicolas Sanchez kicked a 13th minute penalty goal to begin the proceedings for Jaguares after Thomas du Toit was penalised. Sharks had a chance to level the scores but Robert du Preez missed a penalty goal in the 20th minute.

Ramiro Moyano Joya brought an end to the points drought when he crossed over twice in the 29th and 33nd minutes and Sanchez kicked the conversions on both the occasions as Jaguares scored 17 unanswered points.

As the half time was approaching Ruan Botha crossed over to get the visitors off the mark and a conversion from Robert du Preez reduced the gap to 10 points heading into the break.

The Sharks further brought down the gap to four points with du Preez kicking 50th and 54th minute penalty goals and Jaguares suffered a setback when Guido Petti was denied a try for double movement. Sharks had a chance to claim the lead but they were also denied a try for a knock-down.

Any chance of a Sharks comeback was put off when Botha was red-carded for making shoulder contact with the head of a player at a ruck with Moyano Joya and Bautista Delguy crossing over on either side to complete a 29-13 victory.
