Glasgow Warriors have announced the signing of Scotland international prop Allan Dell ahead of the 2022/23 season season.

Dell started his professional rugby career with Currie Cup side Sharks in 2012 and went on to make a switch to Edinburgh in 2014.

The 30-year-old went on to join London Irish in 2019 and went on to make 40 appearances for them.

Originally from South Africa who he represented at under-20 level, the 30-year-old qualifies for Scotland through his grandmother and had made 34 appearances for the Dark Blues. He also represented the British and Irish Lions during the 2017 tour of New Zealand.

“I’m excited to get stuck into life in Glasgow,” Dell told glasgowwarriors.org.

“It’s a good group of boys here, and it’s always been a club that’s played an attractive brand of rugby. To come back to Scotland and be a part of that is a really exciting prospect.

“My gran is originally from Paisley, too, so there’s a really nice family feel to coming back north and pulling on the Glasgow shirt."

Meanwhile, Glasgow are still to make an announcement on the head coach since the departure of Danny Wilson.

Glasgow scrum coach Al Dickinson expressed delight in the signing of Dell, who will link with them during the pre-season.

“We’re excited to add Allan to our squad ahead of the new season.

“He’s a loose-head who has proven he can perform at the highest level, and adds to the quality and depth of the props we already have at Scotstoun.

“He’s also gained valuable experience in the English Premiership, which I know from experience to be a relentless league for front-rowers and will only have made him a better player.
