Scotland 53-24 Australia, BT Murrayfield Stadium
Scorecard

Scotland ran an eight-try riot as they registered a record 53-24 win over Australia in their final game of the autumn international campaign at BT Murrayfield Stadium.

With Stuart Hogg being a late withdrawal from XV, Sean Maitland moved to the fullback and Byron McGuigan started on the left wing.

Finn Russell opened the scoring for Scotland with a 15th minute penalty and soon McGuigan went past the line with the fly-half converting it to make it 10-0.

Australia's response came through centre Tevita Kuridrani, who crossed over in the 33rd and 36th minutes to help them gain a 10-12 lead but a red card to Sekope Kepu for diving on his shoulder into the head of Hamish Watson dented their momentum.

With Australia down to 14 men, Ali Price touched down at the stroke of half-time to make it 17-12 in favour of Gregor Townsend's side.

The Wallabies showed a lot of character despite the setback of Kepu's red card as Kurtley Beale scored an unconverted try in two minutes after the restart but the next 15 minutes was a total domination from the Dark Blues.

Maitland (45'), Jonny Gray (48'), Huw Jones (55') and McGuigan (60') scored further tries in the third quarter which very well sealed the game for Scotland as their lead stretched to 22 points.

Even though a 68th minute try from replacement Lopeti Timani provided some respite for Australia, Scotland were relentless in their attack with John Barclay and Stuart McInally also joining the scoring list with their tries in the final 10 minutes to record their highest ever win over Australia.
