Scarlets have confirmed that Wales prop Sam Wainwright will join the province with immediate effect for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.
Wainwright has been part of Saracens since his professional rugby debut in 2019 but his involvement with the club was limited to two Premiership Cup appearances this season.
The decision to sign Wainwright follows after Samson Lee is recovering from a long-term Achilles injury.
The 24-year-old will arrive at Parc y Scarlets ahead of their European Challenge Cup against Bayonne. He is currently part of Wales' autumn international squad and now could be involved in their final game against Australia on 26th November which falls outside the traditional window as he has joined a Welsh province.
“I’m really excited to be moving back to play my rugby in Wales and I’m really grateful for the opportunity Dwayne and everyone at Scarlets has given me to do this," said the 24-year-old.
“This is a great club with a proud history. I’m looking forward to joining up and meeting all my new team-mates after I’ve finished the autumn campaign with Wales.
"I can’t wait to get stuck in and get to know everyone. Me and all my family are extremely excited and proud to be a part of such a great club.”
