Saracens have confirmed the signing of United States international scrum-half Ruben De Haas on a two-year contract.

The 22-year-old started his senior career with Free State Cheetahs in 2018 and now will be part of Mark McCall's squad in the summer.

“When I heard I had the opportunity to come to Saracens, it was a no-brainer,” he told the club's official website.

“With the success Saracens have had over the past decade, and the team and family culture they have, it was a pretty easy decision for me.

“I’m really looking forward to the journey coming up.”

De Haas represented United States U20 in the 2016 World Rugby Under 20 Trophy and went on to make his Test debut in February 2018. He has played in 17 Tests until now including four appearances in the 2019 World Cup competition.

“We have been monitoring Ruben’s progress over the last few seasons and are really excited by his potential, his ambition and drive," said director of rugby Mark McCall.

“He is a young player with a bright future and we look forward to welcoming him to the club.”
