Saracens could be promoted back to the top tier Premiership for the 2021/22 season even if they don't manage to win the Championship next season according to Daily Mail.

Saracens had a tough last season as they were fined £5.4m and were also handed automatic relegation for a series of salary cap breaches which meant they have to feature in the Championship in the upcoming season with Newcastle Falcons replacing them in the top tier.

Earlier, the RFU had announced that all the domestic tournaments below Championship in Men's competitions and below Premier 15s in Women's have been cancelled for the 2020/21 season due to the pandemic coronavirus.

Even though, the England board is planning to resume the Championship in January, the competition organisers might find it tough to get it underway with the safety guidelines and restrictions in place.

The report further added that in the possibility of the Championship season cancelled, Saracens along with Ealing Trailfinders could feature in a 14-team Premiership tournament for the 2021/22 season.
