Wallabies are set to be without centre Samu Kerevi for the remainder of the year following an injury.

Kerevi damaged his right knee while playing for Australia Sevens during the game against Kenya in the recent Commonwealth Games.

Even though it was initially expected that the 28-year-old's injury was not serious but scans revealed that he had ruptured his ACL and is expected to be out of action for at least six months.

The news was confirmed by a social media post made by Rugby Australia.

Kerevi was already set to miss the opening two rounds of the Rugby Championship against Argentina due to his commitments in the Commonwealth games.

He was initially expected to link up with the squad for the games against the Springboks but now will miss the entire competition along with the end of the year tour where Australia face Scotland, France, Italy, Ireland and Wales.
