Centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg has been handed a fine of £32,500 along with a two-week ban for signing contracts with Sale Sharks and Gloucester Rugby.

The 25-year-old, who played for the Springboks once in 2016 joined Sale Sharks on a permanent basis after signing a three-year deal in 2018 but it is understood that he had already signed a contract with Gloucester Rugby.

From the £32,500 fine, £25,000 will be reimbursed to Gloucester for the amount they handed to Janse van Rensburg but was not repaid back to them despite him sticking with Sale Sharks.

While Janse van Rensburg was found breach of RFU rule 5.12, Sale Sharks were also charged for a breach of RFU regulation 7.5 that deals with approaching the players.

Meanwhile, the agent of Janse van Rensburg, Matthew Ginvert, has been reprimanded and also was fined £3,750. He was also directed to undertake agent's education programme.

The RFU said both club and player accepted the charges.
