Newcastle Falcons have confirmed that Argentine lock Pedro Rubiolo will leave the club at the end of the 2024-25 season to join Premiership rivals Bristol Bears.

The 21-year-old has quickly risen through the ranks since joining Newcastle nearly two years ago. In that time, Rubiolo has made 21 appearances and scored one try. A 20-cap international for Argentina, Rubiolo has established himself as a regular starter for his national team and a standout player in Premiership rugby.

Newcastle Falcons’ director of rugby, Steve Diamond, praised Rubiolo’s development during his time with the club.

"Pedro arrived in Newcastle as a teenager who had not played a single game of professional club rugby. Two years later, he’s a 20-cap international and a regular starter for a tier-one nation," Diamond noted.

While acknowledging the disappointment of losing a quality player, Diamond expressed confidence in Rubiolo’s dedication for the remainder of the campaign.

"Pedro is an outstanding professional, and I know he will give absolutely everything for this club between now and the end of the season."

Rubiolo’s move to Bristol Bears marks the next step in his burgeoning career. The transfer comes as the 2024-25 season concludes, and he will leave Newcastle with the club’s best wishes.
