Pau bounced back from their defeat against Leicester Tigers as they trounced Calvisano 61-10 in their European Challenge Cup clash at Stade du Hameau on Friday.

This is also eighth consecutive victory for Pau at home in the competition as they reached the top position in Pool 5 while Calvisano are at the bottom after second successive defeat.

Bastien Pourailly kick-started the proceedings with a second minute try and they soon doubled their tally with Alexandre Dumoulin also crossing over in the 15th minute Clovis Lebail also kicked both the conversions making the scoreline 14-0.

A penalty from Alberto Chiesa got the visitors off the mark in the 33rd minute but Pau finished the first half strong with three tries in a span of five minutes. Daniel Ramsay (36'), Lebail (39') and Charly Malie (40+1) all dotted down while Lebail also slotted all the three extras as the teams went into the break with a 35-3 scoreline.

The French side continued their onslaught with further tries from Siegfried Fisi'ihoi (46'), Vincent Pinto (58'), Baptiste Pesenti (62') and Quentin Lespiaucq (67') with Lebail kicking eight out of the nine conversions in the game to take Pau's tally to 61 points before Alessandro Izekor scored a 71st minute consolation try for Calvisano.

Pau will head to Cardiff Arms Park to take on Cardiff Blues in the third round on 7th December while Calvisano will face Leicester Tigers at Welford Road.
