Saracens fly-half Owen Farrell believes there is no room for complacency in the England camp despite him being the brink of making his 50th appearance for the red rose team in the upcoming Six Nations clash against Italy at Twickenham on Sunday.

Farrell, who has become an integral part of England under Eddie Jones is in contention to take the number 10 position against the Azzurris forming a midfield partnership with Ben Te'o and Elliot Daly.

The 25-year-old has amassed 562 points for England from 49 Tests but does want to take his place for granted, which he believes is the key to continue improving.

"I don't think you ever feel comfortable and I don't think that anyone here would tell you that they feel comfortable," Farrell said.

"And that's the way it should be, because there has to be a drive to constantly improve.

"I've not thought about winning the 50th cap too much. I need to get picked first and have a good week.

"The thing here is that it's all about getting better and I go on about it, but that's all I concentrate on."

Farrell's debut for England was in February 2012 against Scotland at Murrayfield and has made tremendous progress since then as he went on to lead England in the recent Six Nations game against Wales when regular skipper Dylan Hartley was replaced in 47th minute.

"I hope I have improved a lot and have come a long way since my debut. It was all right - there were quite a few new caps at the same time as me so there were a few of us in the same position," he said.

"Of course I was nervous. You probably build it up into something that it is not. It is another game, but you are going into the unknown."
