Sale Sharks have confirmed that prop Nick Schonert has left the club by mutual consent, ending his four-year spell in Manchester.

The 33-year-old front rower has struggled with injury over the past year and has not featured in the Gallagher Premiership this season due to ongoing fitness issues.

Schonert joined Sale in 2021 from Worcester Warriors and quickly established himself as a consistent and reliable presence in the front row.

Over four seasons, he made 60 appearances for the Sharks, playing a vital role in their scrummaging strength and set-piece stability. However, a significant Achilles injury, which required surgery last March, sidelined the experienced prop and ultimately limited his contribution this season.

The last time Schonert featured in a competitive match was during a Premiership Rugby Cup fixture in November, marking his final outing in Sale colours.

With no appearances in the Premiership during the 2024/25 campaign and continued struggles with recovery, both the club and player agreed it was time to part ways.

"Nick Schonert has departed Sale Sharks by mutual consent with immediate effect."

Sale Sharks, currently fifth in the Gallagher Premiership and just two points outside the play-off spots, now turn their attention to a crucial Champions Cup tie.

They are set to take on reigning champions Toulouse away on Sunday in a high-stakes knockout fixture that could shape the rest of their season.
