New Zealand Win Sevens Series Opener

New Zealand beat hosts Australia 40-19 to win the 2013 Gold Coast Sevens, coming from behind in the final match to clinch victory.

Debutant Ambrose Curtis scored two tries to send the New Zealanders on their way to victory which came despite Australia having raced into a 12-0 lead.

New Zealand recovered and the defending champions led 14-12 at half-time, going on to extend their lead by the end of the match.

Fiji won the Plate competition with a 36-0 win over Kenya and England finished third thanks to a 47-0 thrashing of South Africa.
