New Toulon deal for Giteau

Australian Matt Giteau has ended speculation over his future by agreeing a new two-year deal with Toulon.

The 31-year-old former Wallabies playmaker moved to the French south-coast club from the Brumbies in 2011.

He has helped Toulon earn back-to-back Heineken Cup titles in 2013 and 2014, together with last season's Top 14 success.

Giteau had been linked with Paris side Racing Metro, with reports suggesting they could offer him a record-breaking contract.

However Toulon stated on Thursday that Giteau has agreed to stay with them.

A statement on Toulon's official website read: "Toulon Rugby Club and Matt Giteau are happy to announce that they have reached an agreement for a contract extension for the Australian fly-half or centre for two seasons plus a one-season option.

"Matt Giteau will be tied to the red and black club until June 2016 as a minimum."
