Lyon have confirmed the signing of South African playmaker Sanele Nohamba on a two-year deal ahead of the 2026/27 Top 14 season.

Sanele Nohamba Signs For Lyon

Nohamba will join the French club from Japan Rugby League One side Shizuoka Blue Revs, adding depth and versatility to Lyon’s backline options.

The 27-year-old is primarily a scrum-half but can also operate at fly-half, giving Lyon extra cover across two key playmaking positions. His arrival is expected to strengthen the squad as the club prepares to compete in both the Top 14 and EPCR Challenge Cup.

Lyon Add South African Playmaker

Nohamba began his professional career with the Sharks before moving to the Lions in 2022. His performances in Johannesburg helped him build a strong reputation as one of South Africa’s most exciting attacking backs.

He enjoyed a standout spell with the Lions and was named SA URC Player of the Season in 2024 after a series of influential displays. His kicking game, speed around the breakdown and ability to control tempo made him a key figure during that campaign.
