Munster Rugby have announced a stadium ban for a spectator following an incident in the recently concluded Investec Champions Cup game against Bayonne.

Earlier on television, there was footage showing a spectator in the audience pulling on the shirt of Bayonne lock Kote Mikautadze while players were grappling near the sideline.

Following an investigation launched by the province, the spectator identified himself and apologised for his action.

In the 45th minute, amidst escalating tensions between the teams as Munster led the French team 14-3 when the incident unfolded. Kote Mikautadze appeared to approach the spectator before Munster flanker Thomas Ahern intervened, guiding the Georgian player away from the situation.

Munster Rugby said they will be contacting Aviron Bayonnais and EPCR to apologise for the incident.
