Munster have announced that Jean Kleyn, John Hodnett and Liam Coombes have signed contract extensions with the Irish province.

Kleyn and Hodnett have signed two year contract extensions with the club while Coombes has signed a one-year contract.

Born in South Africa, Kleyn started his career with Western Province and Stormers in 2014 and moved to Munster in 2016. The 30-year-old was named Munster Men’s Player of the Year for 2022/23 and has made 137 appearances.

Last season, he made 24 starts including 19 starts in-a-row to finish the season as Munster clinched the United Rugby Championship title. He made his international Test debut with Ireland in 2019 but switched to South Africa following approval from World Rugby and was part of the World Cup winning squad in the recently concluded campaign in France.

Hodnett made his Munster debut in 2020 after graduating from their academy and has featured in 45 games including 20 appearances last season.

Meanwhile, Coombes joined the Munster academy ahead of the 2017/18 season and made his full senior debut for Munster in their 2018/19 season clash against Cheetahs. He can play on the wing and in the centre and has six tries in 19 Munster appearances since his debut and also had represented Ireland Under 20 side in the past.

Munster are positioned eighth in the United Rugby Championship table with three wins from six matches.
