New Zealand 12-23 Ireland, Dunedin

Ireland claimed a historic over a 14-man New Zealand as they sealed a 23-12 win in the second Test in Dunedin on Saturday.

The series will head to Sky Stadium in Wellington for the decider that will be played on 16th July.

Ireland dominated the opening exchanges as Tadhg Beirne burst through the New Zealand defence with eventually Mack Hansen and Johnny Sexton combined to send Andrew Porter over the line in the 3rd minute. Sexton kicked the conversion to make it 0-7.

Ireland further extended their lead as Caelan Doris forced a penalty goal which Sexton kicked to perfection to make it 0-10 and the 16th minute saw New Zealand down to 14 players temporarily with Leicester Faingaanuku sin-binned for a dangerous tackle on Hansen.

New Zealand's indiscipline costed them as in the 24th minute with Ofa Tuungafasi yellow carded for a tackle off the ball on Garry Ringrose and in the 31st minute Angus Taavao sent off for a reckless tackle on Ringrose, who took a blow on his head.

Ireland could not quite push on in the closing stages of the first half and instead they lost James Ryan to yellow card in the 39th minute for repeated infringing and Beauden Barrett managing to kick a loose ball forward and dot down under the posts and Jordie Barrett kicked the conversion to make it 7-10.

The start of the second half saw Porter dive over for his second in the day after Peter O’Mahony and Tadhg Beirne provided big carries and Sexton kicked a conversion and a penalty to extend Ireland's lead to 7-20 by the end of the third quarter.

As the All Blacks were penalised for not releasing the ball at the ruck, Sexton kicked another penalty goal in the 67th minute to extend the gap to six points before New Zealand finally responded back with Richie Mo'unga and Jordie Barrett combined to send Will Jordan over but that did stop Ireland from registering their first win in New Zealand.
