Edinburgh 20-14 Saracens, DAM Health Stadium

Dave Cherry and Pierre Schoeman scored tries as Edinburgh edged out Saracens 20-14 in the fourth round of the Heineken Champions Cup at DAM Health Stadium on Sunday.

Despite the defeat, Saracens will be having a home game in the round of 16 while Edinburgh, who also make it to the next round finished fifth in Pool A.

Saracens were tested early as Edinburgh dominated the opening exchanges with Dave Cherry scoring after a series of pick and go. Blair Kinghorn kicked the conversion to perfection and also followed it with a penalty goal to take them to a 10-0 lead.

A scrum penalty in the 16th minute helped Saracens off the mark with Alex Goode kicking the three pointer before they were down to 13 players temporarily with hooker Jamie George and prop Marco Riccioni yellow-carded in quick succession.

Saracens showed great resilience to nullify Edinburgh attacks and ensured they remained scoreless with another scrum penalty kick from Goode ensuring they reduced the deficit to four points at the end of the opening half.

The start of the second half saw Kinshorn and Goode exchanging penalties before Maro Itoje became the third Saracens player to be yellow carded for a cynical offside.

Pierre Schoeman extended Edinburgh's lead as he burrowed over amid a rumbling maul and Kinghorn kicked the conversion to make it 20-9. The start of the final 10 minutes saw Edinburgh lock Sam Skinner was sin-binned for illegally bringing down a Saracens maul providing advantage for Ben Earl's try but that did not stop the Scottish regional side from completing a morale boosting win as they head into the next round.
