Biarritz Olympique 13-17 Newcastle Falcons, Parc des Sports Aguiléra

George Wacokecoke scored the decisive try in the end as Newcastle Falcons edged out Biarritz Olympique 17-13 in the third round of the European Challenge Cup at Parc des Sports Aguiléra.

The Falcons now have two wins from as many games and are at top of Pool A while Biarritz are at second place with eight points.

It took the Falcons just five minutes to open their account as Sam Stuart touched down and Brett Connon followed with the conversion to make it 0-7 but the response from the home side came through a penalty goal from Brett Herron around the half-hour mark as the teams went into the break with a 3-7 scoreline.

Connon with a penalty goal in the 47th minute extended Newcastle's lead to seven points but the scores were levelled when flanker Tornike Jalagonia went over for Biarritz on 63 minutes and Gilles Bosch followed with the conversion.

Herron then slotted his second penalty of the game on 72 minutes as Biarritz looked to have done enough to secure a second win in the season before Wacokecoke had the final laugh with a dive in the corner to steer the Falcons to a four-point victory.
