Mark Nawaqanitawase Japan Move Confirmed

The 25-year-old, who has represented the Wallabies in union and recently played rugby league with the Sydney Roosters in the NRL, will move to Japan Rugby League One side Saitama Wild Knights. The switch comes ahead of the Rugby World Cup scheduled to be held in Australia.

Nawaqanitawase previously spent four seasons in Super Rugby with the NSW Waratahs and has earned 11 Test caps for Australia.

Saitama Wild Knights Squad Strengthens

The winger said joining the six-time Japanese champions was an honour and praised the club’s success and history. The contract length was not officially confirmed, though he is expected to join the squad later this year.

"They are a very strong team that has experienced a lot of success and it is a club which carries a rich history," he said in a statement released by the club.

"I am looking forward to becoming part of the Wild Knights and I am looking forward to what we can build together in the future."

He will link up with fellow Australian Marika Koroibete and international players including Damian de Allende and Lood de Jager at the club coached by Robbie Deans.

Japan Rugby League One Context
