Louis Ludik Interview

1. How do you think The Sharks have started so far?

We have done very well, but had a few losses now and we just have to keep working hard. It's a long season and anything can happen and we are very positive, especially because we are back home and looking forward to playing in front of our home support.

2. Who is your rugby hero and why?

Definitely Andre Joubert, he was by far the best fullback in the world and I always strive to play like him.

3. What is it like to play in the same team as John Smit, Stefan Terblanche, JP Pietersen, du plessis brothers and the Beast?

It is such an honour to play with them, they are the best players in the country and they make it so much easier to play the game and such a pleasure.

4. What has been your career highlight so far?

In a team environment it was by far to have won the Currie Cup and the time I was included in the Boks training group, it was such a great experience and would love it to be included again one day.

I would consider it at some time in my career, I would wait for that opportunity to come one day. I would love to travel when I'm in Europe. It is such a beautiful and incredible place.

6. How do you think South Africa will do in the rugby world cup?

I think we are going to do very well, I wouldn't be surprised if we are going to be in the final and follow through and win it.

7. If you had to give tips to kids playing rugby what would it be?

It would definately be that they must get, in every aspect of the game , the best trainers to help them become the best and always believe in their own ability and not to listen to other people's opinions if they are trying to drag them down.

8. Do you have any friends playing rugby over in Europe?

Yes I do, Schalk Brits playing for Sarecens, Ruan Pienaar & Johann Muller are playing in Ulster.  Deon Carstens. Willie Wepener. Ernst Joubert.

9. Who has been the greatest influence on your career?

Probably going to sound strange, but my wife has definitely been my greatest influence.

I would probably have been a Chartered Accountant.

11. Who is the toughest player you have played against?

It's very difficult to say who is the toughest player but one of the best is Sonny Bill Williams.

12. Who is the toughest player you have played with?

Again a heard question to answer “ to narrow it down to just one player.  But I would have to say one of them is Jannie du Plessis, he won't stop for anything.

I must say that Twickenham is so far my favourite stadium to play away from home , it was such an honour playing there.
