London Irish have announced the signing of Italy international prop Danilo Fischetti ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Fischetti started his career with F.I.R. Academy in 2016 and moved to Calvisano a year later. He initially joined Zebre on loan in 2019 before signing a permanent contract with the Italian club ahead of the 2019/20 season and went on to play for them 41 appearances for them across the EPCR Challenge Cup, Rainbow Cup and United Rugby Championship.

“I can’t wait to get started at London Irish,” he told the club's official website.

“After speaking to Declan, I knew that the ambitions of the Club match that of my own. I’m looking forward to contributing as much as I can to drive the team up the league table.”

The 24-year-old made his Italy debut in February 2020 and has featured in 20 Tests. He was also part of the squad that competed in the 2020, 2021 and 2022 Six Nations tournaments.

“Danilo will be a welcome presence in our pack and will bring with him a wealth of international experience at only 24-years-old," said London Irish director of rugby Declan Kidney.

“We are very much looking forward to working with him at Hazelwood this summer and he is a welcome addition to our squad.
