Lions registered their straight win with a 35-47 triumph over Bulls in their Super Rugby encounter at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

Ruan Dreyer (13'), Jacques Van Rooyen (17') and Marvin Orie (31') were the try scores for Lions in the first half with Elton Jantjies kicking all three conversions to take them to 21 points.

Fly-half Marnitz Boshoff kicked three penalties for Bulls while winger John-Ben Kotze crossed over as Bulls trailed by seven points at the half-time mark.

Handre Pollard helped Bulls level the scores 21-21 with an early try in the second half that was improved by Boshoff, Malcolm Marx restored Lions' seven point lead in the 50th minute as they claimed the bonus point and their momentum was further aided by a double sin-bin Bulls' replacements Conraad Van Vuuren and Nic de Jager, with the second yellow card also resulting in a penalty try for Lions.

The visitors capitalised on the numerical advantage as Sylvian Mahuza dived past the line as they stretched the lead to 21-40 at the end of the third quarter.

With the final 10 mintues kicking-off, Ross Cronje scored Lions' seventh try and despite late touchdowns from Lizo Gqoboka and Travis Ismaiel, Bulls succumbed to a 12 point defeat.

Lions continued to dominate the South African Conference which also has Bulls at third.
