New Zealand loose forward Liam Squire has confirmed his availability to the All Blacks team management ahead of the World Cup squad announcement.

According to a report in Stuff.co.nz, the 28-year-old earlier contacted head coach Steve Hansen that he wasn't ready for selection in the Rugby Championship following injuries that forced him to miss the most of the Super Rugby season.

"At the end of it [the conversation] we agreed [he wasn't ready to play tests] and I said 'righto, that's a pretty courageous conversation, well done, you get back on the park and play some footy and we'll make a decision from there'," Hansen said ahead of the Rugby Championship tournament.

The report went on to add that the 6ft 5in back-row has now expressed his readiness to return to action to the team management after a successful return for his club Tasman Mako. Squire last played for New Zealand during the November series in 2018 and overall has been capped 23 times for his country.

Tasman co-coach Andrew Goodman said Squire has all the credentials to make it to the World Cup squad.

"We all know he's good enough to be at the World Cup if he's selected and if that's something he wants to do," Goodman told RNZ.

"That's going to be a conversation he'll have with those guys when they're both ready ready."

Hansen is set to announce the World Cup squad of New Zealand on Wednesday.
