The Ospreys have revealed a new deal for flanker Sam Lewis - two days after Newport Gwent Dragons claimed he would be joining them.

The Dragons' New Year's Day announcement still features prominently on their website, together with quotes from rugby director Lyn Jones, who described Lewis as "a significant signing".

The Ospreys, though, said on Friday that 23-year-old Lewis has committed to them, signing a two-year contract to keep him at the Liberty Stadium until 2016.

Swansea-born Lewis is quoted on the Ospreys website as saying: "I am 100 per cent committed to the Ospreys and I'd like to apologise for any confusion caused by recent statements which coincided with a brief period of uncertainty on my part.

"However, I have signed a two-year contract to stay here at the Ospreys and I look forward to continuing to represent my home region as I continue to develop on and off the field."
