Leicester Tigers have confirmed the signing of USA international prop Tonga Kofe for the 2025/26 season.

The 29-year-old joins from the Utah Warriors, where he played a key role in helping the team top the Western Conference in Major League Rugby.

Kofe has earned three caps for the USA Eagles since transitioning to rugby union from American football.

Known for his size—standing 6 ft 2 in and weighing 143 kg—he is one of the biggest front-rowers to join Welford Road in recent years.

Kofe expressed pride in joining Leicester: “Joining Leicester Tigers is more than just a new chapter—it’s the result of years of hard work, setbacks, and sacrifices. This club represents tradition, pride, and a relentless standard.”

He also praised the supporters, saying, “The Tigers have the best fans in the league—passionate, loyal, and loud—and I can’t wait to play in front of them and earn their respect.”

Head coach Geoff Parling highlighted Kofe’s potential: “Tonga is a prop who is late to rugby but who we think has huge potential. He’s physically very strong, but from speaking to his coaches in America, it’s his willingness to learn that stands out.” Parling and the club will also welcome Kofe’s wife and daughter, Lisa Rose, to Leicester.
