Leicester Tigers have announced the appointment of Geoff Parling as their new Head Coach, set to commence his role in August 2025 following the British & Irish Lions tour.
Currently the assistant coach of Australia’s national team, the Wallabies, the 41-year-old will take over at Tigers later this summer.
As a player, he won multiple titles at Mattioli Woods and will look to translate that success on the pitch to in the stands.
"I was lucky enough to have some incredible moments in the Leicester Tigers jersey, made through hard work by good people, and so I am extremely proud to be coming back to lead the club," Parling said in a Leicester statement.

It’s a big decision for the East Midlands outfit, one that marks a significant step for the club as it seeks long-term stability and a return to its core values as they’re 10 points adrift of Bath with Premiership odds on Gambling.com suggesting changed had been long overdue.
Leicester Club Chairman Tom Scott agreed this was the right time for the move, with Michael Cheika’s departure confirmed in January.

Leicester Tigers have experienced considerable coaching turnover since 2017, with 24 coaching changes disrupting the club's continuity.
Cheika's tenure at Tigers was marred by a combination of disciplinary issues, internal discord, and underwhelming performances. Early in his stint, Cheika received a two-match touchline ban for disrespecting a match-day doctor during a Premiership fixture against Exeter Chiefs, casting a shadow over his leadership.
Further compounding the challenges, he unilaterally dismissed assistant coach Matt Everard without consulting the club's hierarchy, leading to internal tensions and dissatisfaction among players. The European loss to Toulouse proved to be the final nail in the coffin for a manager that was already skating on thin ice before his eventual dismissal was confirmed at the turn of the year.

Upon retiring, Parling transitioned into coaching, starting with the Melbourne Rebels. His coaching acumen, particularly in lineout strategy, led to his appointment as an assistant coach for the Australian national team under Dave Rennie in 2020. Although briefly sidelined during Eddie Jones' tenure, he was reinstated by Joe Schmidt in 2024, reaffirming his value to the Wallabies' coaching setup. Parling is also set to serve as the lineout coach for the British & Irish Lions in their upcoming series.
