Leicester Tigers have announced the signing of Argentina international Tomas Leonardi as a replacement for injured Mike Williams.

Williams, 24, was in contention for England debut in their upcoming autumn internationals but a broken arm which he sustained during a training session prior to Leicester Tigers' Aviva Premiership game against Worcester Warriors at Welford Road on Saturday will keep him out of action up to 12 weeks.

Meanwhile, Leonardi has played 18 Tests for Argentina and will now make a switch from Sunwolves to the Welford Road outfit. He has also represented Edinburgh, Toulouse and Kings in the past.

Director of rugby Richard Cockerill stated that the inclusion of Leonardi will provide more buffer to the squad especially in the absence of Williams.

"Tomas has a lot of international experience.

"He played for the Sunwolves in Super Rugby, he has been at Edinburgh and Toulouse, so he has European experience.

"In the light of Mike Williams' injury, we wanted to add some back-row cover."

Leicester Tigers will kick off their European Champions Cup campaign on Friday with a clash against Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun Stadium.

In the ongoing Aviva Premiership, Leicester Tigers are placed fourth with four wins from six games.
