Leicester City's conquest can motivate England on tour to Australia - Mike Brown

England and Harlequins full-back Mike Brown believes Leicester City's recent English Premier League conquest can motivate the national rugby union side to triumph in Australia this summer.

Brown also feels that England have their very own Claudio Ranieri in the form of head coach Eddie Jones.

Ranieri's underdog team amazed the sporting world by winning the Barclays Premier League title merely a year after battling relegation.

Brown, who was a part of England's recent champion side which conquered the 2016 Six Nations Grand Slam expects to be retained in the squad for tour Down Under next month.

"It just shows that if you have that drive to succeed, the willingness to work hard and that team ethos Leicester have, you can achieve anything," Brown, speaking at the launch of Thank You Rugby, told Press Association Sport.

"I'm a big believer in looking at other sports and taking what you can from it and that's the message you can take from Leicester.

"They may not be big names, until now, but still they've achieved what everyone wants to achieve by working hard, by playing as a team."

Drawing similarities between Jones and Ranieri, Brown complimented Jones' ability to handle his players and get the best out of them.

"Eddie Jones is demanding with his players, always challenging you, and that's because he wants us to succeed. I'm sure Claudio Ranieri has that side of him as well.

"Off the field he has that side where he likes us to enjoy each other's company and have those fun times as well. That's a big part of getting success on the field."

The 30-year-old is confident the recent Six Nations success is only a sign of many wonderful things to happen.

Brown also admits that England needs to consistently challenge teams from the Southern Hemisphere and the upcoming tour against Australia can be a start of things.

"The Grand Slam has got to be just the start. We have to do that multiple times and we have to push the Southern Hemisphere teams.

"We want to be the number one team in the world and that starts now with the Aussies. I'd love to be selected and have a crack at the number two team in the world and hopefully push them all the way.

"If we keep improving like we have been - and Eddie will keep pushing us hard - then there's no reason why we can't."

Mike Brown has launched a nationwide campaign to celebrate the positive impact that rugby has on individuals, schools and communities across the UK. The campaign marks this year's graduation celebrations for CBRE All Schools - a programme run by England Rugby to get over 1,000,000 school children actively involved in rugby by 2019.
