Northampton Saints pair Courtney Lawes and Fin Smith are named among the four nominees for the Premiership Rugby's player of the season award.

Both the players are also in the nominations for the Investec Champions Cup player of the year award after helping them reach the semi-final in the competition. Lawes is set to leave the club at the end of the season but has been instrumental in their ongoing campaign that saw them secure a home semi-final after finishing at the top of the table.

Smith on the other hand went on to make his England debut in the Six Nations earlier in the year.

The duo will be joined by Bath's Finn Russell and Exeter Chiefs' Henry Slade. Slade currently is the leading points scorer in this season's Premiership while Russell made impact straightaway after helping Bath to a play-off berth.

Harlequins prop Fin Baxter and second rower Chandler Cunningham-South, Exeter winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso and Newcastle flanker Guy Pepper are shortlisted for breakthrough player of the season.

Saracens boss Mark McCall, Sale Sharks' Alex Sanderson, Bath's Johann van Graan and Northampton's Phil Dowson have been nominated for the Director of rugby of the season award.

The winner will be announced on 22nd May.
